Experience
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Macalester College and remained in Minnesota after graduation. During and after college, I've worked extensively with children and young adults, in settings ranging from the classroom to after school programs and youth retreats. I love to teach writing and communication, and my passion for sharing those skills has been magnified through my own travel experiences. I taught and wrote about my experiences while traveling through South America and Southeast Asia. My belief is that students learn better when they're engaged in the process, enjoying the work, and have confidence in their own abilities and in their teachers. I greatly enjoy opening doors through shared learning with my students. I'm available for tutoring in elementary math, algebra, reading, writing, grammar, Mandarin Chinese, English, Spanish, and ACT and SAT preparation. When I'm not working, I enjoy salsa and hip-hop dancing, writing, cooking, travel, sports, nature, and learning new languages. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.
