Experience
I have been teaching for the last seven years-- first as a 6th and 8th grade English Language Arts teacher in New York City and more recently as a 10th grade English teacher and 12th grade college advisor in Chicago. Through my work I have helped students become better writers and readers, increase their test scores, and apply and get into the college of their choice. When I last taught tenth grade (this past year I was working as a college counselor) my students out performed the rest of the classes in the network in our network assessment, as well as in student portfolios and self assessments. I want to tutor because I love working with students and because I have a strong foundational knowledge of how to teach and motivate students. Because I am currently enrolled in a master's program, I also have a great deal of availability with scheduling.

Hobbies
Camping, hiking, playing soccer, cooking, and going to see live music. I have a lot of experience connecting with students across varied interests and reaching students where they are at--- even if it means getting really excited and interested in something that I don't know very much about.
