Experience

Hi there! I am a Dartmouth College senior majoring in Computer Science and Digital Arts with several years of tutoring/mentoring experience. I have achieved scores in the 99th percentile for both the ACT and SAT prior to college. While in high school (St. Paul Academy graduate), I spent my time volunteering at the homeless shelter, helping out with their daycare and tutoring children. In college, I spend my time mentoring younger students with the college application process, giving advice on application essay writing, extracurriculars, and stress management. A number of my former mentees/tutees have been accepted into preeminent undergraduate and graduate universities, including Stanford, Berkeley, Dartmouth, and more. And while I have worked with exceptionally naturally gifted students, I want to emphasize on creating a curriculum and plan that will suit your own individualized goals, whatever they may be. I take a personalized approach to tutoring, knowing that everyone learns differently and tailoring counseling to the personal abilities and objectives of my students. I believe 'smart' is just another word for 'hard-working' and that goals can be achievable with a good plan of action. I am happy to open up my home for tutoring sessions because it provides a nice, quiet place to study. However, I find that students may be more comfortable in the setting of their own home and am just as willing to travel to your place of residence if that is more convenient for you. Before every meeting, I will set an agenda for the session based on the needs of the student. Typically, I like to spend the first session just getting to know the student and the family and offer the first 30 minutes free of charge. Afterwards, I will leave the student with a plan of action and homework tailored to the student's schedule. If nothing else, I'm on your side and here to assist you. And if at anytime, you are not completely satisfied, I'm always open to feedback and able to issue refunds. I know that the college admission process can be confusing and often times, daunting for you. Whatever your tutoring needs may be, I hope to assuage the mental anguish of all parties (both applicant and parent) and provide a guiding hand in the process. I hope to hear from you soon! I'm always open to having new students, whether it be for a quick ACT refresher or a long-term counseling relationship
