Experience
I earned a degree in music from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. I also cultivated my strong skill sets in mathematics, philosophy, literature, and other subjects. I am currently studying toward a master's in Teaching and Music at the University of St. Thomas. Away from class I teach piano and am a choir director to groups of all ages. I have tutored for the past five years and have extensive experience working with students from a wide range of ages, skill levels, and learning styles. My experience teaching musicians and choral talent has afforded the opportunity to approach subject matter from various directions and analyze any sticking points students might have. I am also adept at presenting my lessons to meet the diverse needs of students' individual goals and abilities, while bringing patience and flexibility to every presentation and session. I have studied and taught through the University of St. Thomas master's program and that has given me dynamic training experience in strategic teaching methods, as well as enhanced communication with students. Outside of the classroom, my interests revolve largely around music, including directing, teaching, and just listening.
