Education

Hello, Thank you for visiting my profile! I hope that you will like what you find below and that we will have a chance to work together very soon! I am currently studying Computer Science within the Integrated Business and Engineering Honors Program at Lehigh University in PA, USA. Previously I studied Robotics and Automatics at Wroclaw University of Technology in Poland, and prior to that I completed the IB program at the United World College of South East Asia in Singapore, where I scored 43/45 points with 7s in HL Math, Chemistry and Physics, and a 6 in Further Mathematics. I really enjoy what I do and as a consequence I spend a lot of time learning, teaching and building software. I recently received a lot of positive feedback from the industry, which I hope will help me build credibility with you. I am in my final year at university so I had been looking for full time employment. Five very reputable companies extended gracious job offers to me. The offers were quite varied and included consulting, data science and software development opportunities. I would have felt privileged working at any of these companies but forced to chose I accepted a software development job at Microsoft Corporation, which I find extremely exciting and a little unnerving. I am thus looking to keep learning by continuing to teach computer science and mathematics. Throughout the past five years I have taken and tutored courses in computer science, mathematics and machine learning. These include: + Algorithms + Data Structures + Software Engineering + Operating Systems + Web Applications Development + Databases + Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning + Programming Languages + Systems Programming + A Lot of Mathematics and Statistics + Optimization + Operations Research: Optimization, Queueing Theory, Reliability, Markov Chains etc. This solid theoretical foundation lets me quickly learn new frameworks and paradigms necessary to complete various projects. Part of the reason why I like computer science so much is that virtually every problem forces me to learn new tools, concepts and frameworks. Consequently, so far I have had considerable experience programming in: + Java + Python + C/C++ + SQL + HTML/CSS/JS/jQuery/AngularJS + AMPL + Lots of bizarre languages And I continuously pick up new languages and frameworks so if what you are looking for is not listed above, send me an email anyway chances are I know it or am willing to learn.

Experience

I have been a private tutor for over five years teaching all levels of mathematics, programming, physics and chemistry. During my time at university I have been a teaching assistant, a tutor and a grader for numerous computer science classes including Operating Systems Design which is generally considered to be one of the most challenging undergraduate courses. I have recently been involved in writing a mobile application with the back-end hosted by Google App Engine, several websites and a cool machine learning project designed to recognize hand drawn symbols. +++++ Student Recommendations ++++ "Choosing Adam for a math tutor was one of the best decisions I made during the IB programme. One of the advantages of our collaboration was that I could contact him any time I had a problem with understanding math, and he responded to my question with an exhaustive answer, ensuring that I really understood the issue. He is really passionate about his job- with the help of variety of programs, resources and tools he proved that math may be interesting, discussing with me given topic and encouraging to solve problems on my own, using all previously acquired knowledge. Patience, creativity and passion are Adam's greatest strengths, which combined, made our cooperation very successful and motivating. I would strongly recommend him as a tutor, considering the vast knowledge possessed, as well as an interesting and inspiring personality. " Patrycja Koehler, graduate of the IB Diploma Programme, Poland. +++ Mathematics though tough is pure pleasure, and if youre not convinced, Adam will show you. Preparing for IB HL Maths exams was much easier with him. His math skills are very impressive and his IB exam results speak for themselves. No topic was unknown to him and in rare situations, when answers were not so obvious it was a matter of a few hours, when a mail would come in with a full explanation. Adams patience is also worth mentioning. Going through examples even a few times did not influence his temper and you can trust me- I tried it out! Adam is also very friendly and flexible. To my surprise, he even woke up a few hours before his classes to help me out! My favourite thing was the skype form that enables lessons anytime, anyplace. Not only learning in Poland was I able to contact Adam, but our MathSkype sessions also took place in cafs in different cities or even on vacation in Spain. Such possibilities unable you to find excuses before exams! After a couple of months, hard work with Adam resulted in great final grades. I definitely recommend him to all math freaks and math freak-outs! Edyta, graduate of the IB Diploma Programme, Poland +++ "I had the pleasure of working with Adam in the year preceding my IB. He is decisively my favorite tutor. The classes - that we used to have about once a week - were very useful and never boring. Adam always prepared a lot of interesting materials, which I still have today. I learned a lot about chemistry and mathematics. Everything was always made clear, and if necessary we went over the material multiple times. Even after just a few classes with Adam, I noticed a significant improvement in my abilities. Because English is the IB Program instruction language at my school, we also held conversations in this language, concerning various topics. I thoroughly revised my grammar shills and expanded my vocabulary. Adam's huge asset is also his great experience. I would especially recommend his services to the IB students - thanks to the fact that Adam used to take part in the program himself, he is fully aware of the challenges that await us in our school. I believe that Adam is not only a great teacher, but also an easily approachable person, with whom one finds it easy to build rapport. It makes the work much easier, as well as more effective. I have never met another tutor who encouraged independent thinking so effectively." Patrycja R, IB Diploma Candidate, Poland. +++ "Adam's services were recommended to me by a friend. I needed help preparing for a math exam at the university. Initially I was skeptical about the online tutoring, but I changed my mind after the first class. Everything works perfectly - there really are no communication issues. Additionally, the entire class can be recorded so that I can return to our lesson whenever I want. Online tutoring is still relatively unknown, but I really hit the jackpot when I decided to do it. Regarding Adam - he explains everything very well, step by step, from the easiest concepts to the most difficult ones. Always well prepared and most of all patient!" Kuba J., IB Graduate, Poland. +++ "Adam is extremely patient and personable. He is willing to explain things in several different ways in order to accommodate the students learning style. Extremely focused on making sure you understand the material, Adam makes you demonstrate your knowledge of the topic before moving on. I would definitely recommend him as a tutor to anyone." Claire B., Computer Science and Psychology Student, USA +++ " Math classes with Adam helped me to discover my abilities and make a full use out of them. His positive and enthusiastic attitude was greatly motivating. For the first time I truely enjoyed learning math but more importantly my grades improved and tests were no longer stressfull. I can honestly say that Adam is the best teacher I've ever met." Karolina K., IB Graduate, Netherlands +++ "I am satisfied with our cooperation. As a tutor Adam approaches his work professionally, he is engaged and disciplined, which certainly translates into tangible effects of his work with a student. " Marek K., IB Student Parent, Poland +++ "At first, when I looked at online tutoring I was skeptical. I thought, Its impossible that this can be as effective as in-person tutoring. Fortunately, I was wrong. When there were no IB tutors in my hometown, but I needed help, Adam was there online. We communicated through video calls, and he was instrumental in helping me prepare for my IB Math SL exams. His attitude was always positive, he was always present when I needed him, and our sessions were always productive. He was willing to work with me on the subjects I needed to learn, until I had thoroughly learned them. The materials he had for me to learn what I needed, and his knowledge of the material created an ideal situation for me; especially because I live in an area with few tutors who understand the IB style. I would recommend Adam to anyone, the help I got was exactly what I needed." Lee Joseph S. IB Graduate, USA +++ "I worked with Adam in the course my preparation for the GRE and TOEFL exams. I was impressed by his enthusiasm, work ethics, as well as the amount of resources he had offered. In terms of quality, being open to the client's needs is very important to me. As a person operating in a business context, at one point I asked Adam to prepare a detailed plan of our cooperation, that would include the topics of the classes, homework and self-study. Adam's reaction was positive, and he has prepared a good plan, that helped me learn effectively. Aside from his teaching skills, I highly regarded the good atmosphere, resulting from Adam's positive approach and interesting personality. We worked intensively for nearly three months in 2011. I recommend Adam as a mathematics tutor." Piotr Cz., Poland.

Hobbies

I travel whenever I get a chance. I have lived on three continents and visited some 20 countries. Usually, I take my computer with me and keep tutoring when I travel. It is also pretty common for my students to take their computers for holidays and keep learning. Aside from traveling I really enjoy playing sports. Windsurfing and snowboarding are definitely among my favorites, but off-season I enjoy rock-climbing, slack-lining, volleyball and chess.
