Bachelor's degree in Communication Arts/Literature Education from the University of Northwestern, St. Paul (2007). Master's degree in Education - Curriculum and Instruction - from Concordia University (2014). English Language Arts Teaching License from the state of Minnesota, grades 5-12. Reading License from the state of Minnesota, grades K-12.
Experience
I've tutored many high school students preparing to take the ACT and am very familiar not only with the content of the test but also with effective test-taking strategies. Writing can be a very daunting task at any educational level, and I love working with people of any age to help them express themselves clearly in writing. I have extensive experience in helping with essay writing: research papers, argument essays, compare and contrast essays, cause and effect essays, and many, many more. I am proficient in both MLA and APA citation styles . . . and also know great, free online resources to support with both! I just recently finished my graduate coursework in completion of my reading license and look forward to supporting people in reading. This school year is my fourth year teaching 8th grade English at Farnsworth Aerospace in Saint Paul, and while I love teaching in middle school, I am interested in picking up some tutoring on the side in order to keep my skills sharp at multiple levels.
