Experience
Dr. Jason O (or just Jason) has more than 15 years of experience teaching and tutoring. He has been tutoring in a one-on-one setting since high school and believes that one of his strongest qualities as a teacher is being able to connect with students as individuals and explain complex mathematical concepts in a way that makes sense to the individual student. He has tutored all levels of mathematics, from middle school to upper level college courses, although he is most comfortable working with Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, and Calculus II students. He is also comfortable working with groups, as he works part time as an instructor in the Twin Cities area. Jason graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2006 with dual degrees in Chemical Engineering and Mathematics, with honors. He moved to Minnesota in summer 2006 with his wife, Kathy, to pursue his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. Jason finished his Ph.D. in summer 2012 and currently works full-time as a Scientist at a Twin Cities Biotechnology company. He works part-time as a math instructor, both as Adjunct Faculty at Augsburg College and as a Teaching Specialist at the University of Minnesota. Jason’s passion for teaching and, specifically, helping students find their groove in mathematics, drives this part-time career as an educator.
