I chose to become a tutor because of my own positive experiences with tutors and teaching assistants throughout college. I love helping people gain new academic skills and become comfortable with challenging material. I promise to provide you with non-judgmental, patient, and fun support to meet your needs. We all have different aptitudes and interests, but together I know I can help you hit your academic marks so you can achieve your own goals. I have been a mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters for the past three years and volunteer at a local library's homework help center. These experiences have given me exposure to working with K-12 and college students, as well as adult learners. Prior to our tutoring sessions, I will communicate with you to determine whether you would prefer to work on problems or homework you have, or need me to come prepared with practice assignments. If you would like me to bring practice reading material, for example, I will try to learn about your interests so the material I bring can be fun and informative. Lastly, I would find it helpful to get a sense of the frequency and duration of the tutoring you're seeking (with the understanding, of course, that you can still dissolve the tutoring relationship at any time or cancel appointments with 12 hours notice.)
