Private tutor in Minneapolis, MN
Education
Bachelor of the Arts, Saint Olaf College, May 2012 (Medieval History Major). Participant in the Great Conversation Program at Saint Olaf College. Studied abroad at the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Oxford University, England.
Experience
I have experience working with students ages 5-15 as a junior figure skating instructor (2005-2008). I also have substantial experience working with Boy Scouts at the Northern Tier National High Adventure Base in the Minnesota Boundary Waters. Here, I challenged groups of 8 scouts on ten-day backcountry canoe treks and taught them wilderness survival skills, natural history, and navigation. I also write for Anaxos Educational Media Inc. on a freelance basis. I research and write articles introducing texts from American history. These entries are compiled for high school level American history textbooks. I have substantial experience working with students in recreational settings and a strong passion for learning. I have demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, which I am well qualified to pass on in a variety of contexts. My long term goal is to earn a PhD and teach at the college level, but in the meantime I am eager to remain involved in education and continue to inspire younger students.
